Dr. Griffin Schaefer grew up in southeast Georgia. She graduated from Georgia Southern University with her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2014. After graduating, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she worked in animal husbandry and science education. Dr. Schaefer then graduated from Midwestern University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. During her time in veterinary school, she was president of her college’s exotic animal medicine club, worked in a lab researching the spread of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever in the southwest, and mentored new students. Her professional interests include preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, and care of exotic pets.

In 2023, Dr. Schaefer moved to Albuquerque’s East Mountains area with her spouse, two dogs, and two cats. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, and gardening.
